2001 marks the 28th year that the Diocese of Lansing will have a Diocesan Services Appeal (DSA). While the name "DSA" is familiar to most of our parishioners, many may not realize what the appeal actually accomplishes.  If you are not completely informed of these services, please feel free to contact your pastor to get a clearer understanding of the good work that is accomplished because of the DSA     The DSA provices 66% of the money needed to run the Central Services Departments of the diocese. These departments run hundreds of different ministries, services and programs throughout the year.  The diocese concentrates its ministry efforts on those projects that are too big or too costly for an individual parish to attempt by itself.  This way, we avoid duplication of effort and are able to serve as many people as possible with the DSA dollars.     With the DSA providing the revenue for hundreds of different (and often unrelated) ministry and service programs every year, it is easy to lose sight of the good work accomplished as a result of the campaign.  We all gain immesurably by supporting the DSA efforts.  And a look at the local parish involvement demonstrates a powerful, and cooperative way of ministry.     During the upcoming appeal months, and the year ahead, the bishop has asked that we all pray for the success of the 2001 DSA.  Pray that our hearts may be open, and that our minds listen to God's call. Pray for a positive spirit toward the DSA, and pray that the generous support be forthcoming from each one of us, the Community of believers.
